My artistic practice investigates the interplay between the virtual and the real,
using video games as a medium to probe the nature of reality and faith.
Grounded in Chinese Daoist concepts of Zuowang (forgetting distinctions
between reality and illusion) and Qiwu (the equality of all things), alongside the
Hetu-Luoshu diagrams and the simulation hypothesis, my work bridges Eastern
philosophical contemplation with Western skepticism. This process involves
contemplating the integration of multiple identities with authentic selves amidst the
digital wave.
Video games as the ninth art and a composite medium synthesize visual, narrative,
musical, and interactive dimensions, offering a unique lens to explore how
intangible constructs—like faith—shape our understanding of existence. In the
meantime, my work like most Chinese virtual art confronts the challenge of
modernizing traditional culture, necessitating elements of cultural revitalization and
the integration of traditional components. Specifically, me being a Generation Z
creator shaped by gaming culture, I endeavor to materialize virtual world elements
through 3D printing technologies, thereby creating tensions between the virtual and
the real through merging traditional motifs with digital elements to show the
dichotomy between tradition and contemporaneity
